Sustaining the Environment

Valley Vail Foundation/Sustainable Travel International’s Actively Green 2015 certified

Six EWDH properties were certified through the Vail Valley Foundation/Sustainable Travel International’s Actively Green 2015 Program, including the Eagle Point Resort, Eye Pieces, Falcon Point Resort, the Poste Montane Lodge, Vail Spa and The Wren. Three EWDH properties earned the “Green Leader” designation from TripAdvisor in 2014 and The Wren was awarded the “Good Earthkeeping Award” from the CO Hotel Lodging Association

Dedicated to Sustainable Operations

In 2015, 11 EWDH properties participated in tracking their waste diversion to recycling rates, up from eight properties in 2014. The properties had a 41 percent waste diversion to recycling rate for 2015.

1328 lbs of donated products

In 2014, EWDH donated more than 1,328 lbs. of products to Clean the World, a non-profit program that recycles and distributes discarded soap and shampoo products to impoverished people worldwide preventing deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses. In the spring of 2014, EWDH’s Assistant Director of Housekeeping participated in a Clean The World trip to Guatemala where they distributed over 128,000 bars of soap to over 3,600 families through two Children’s International Centers and a public school.

Silver LEED certified resort

EWDH’s Westin Riverfront – Colorado’s 1st Silver LEED certified resort - had a 47.09 percent waste diversion to recycling rate in 2014 and completed a LED light bulb retrofit of all guest rooms, lobby and their restaurant Maya.

LEED Property

The Triangle Building, located in the heart of Denver, developed by EWP and now managed by EWDH, achieved a LEED Gold designation throughout every aspect of construction from recycling efforts; implementation of LED lighting; flat plate cooling; the utilization of BAS for HVAC controls for optimization of tenant comfort; frequency drives that control flow and air set points speeds to maximize overall efficiency, life span of equipment and electrical costs; Viracon windows which are energy efficient and architecturally pleasing.
