Director of Engineering

Position Summary

The Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring the overall maintenance, safety, and operational excellence of the property. This role leads all engineering functions to deliver high-quality accommodations for guests, owners, and HOA boards, while maintaining the facilities in optimal condition.

Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the Engineering Department.
  • Lead and manage all HR functions including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and terminations.
  • Supervise a team of 20+ employees, including payroll and timesheet approvals.
  • Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented team environment.

Maintenance & Facilities Management

  • Direct maintenance of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place and executed effectively.
  • Perform or oversee routine maintenance work such as painting, carpentry, and repairs.
  • Manage onboarding of new buildings, including development of maintenance and operations plans.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and all applicable building codes.
  • Lead departmental safety training and enforce best practices.
  • Maintain safe conditions for guests, staff, and property at all times.

Projects & Capital Planning

  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects, including major repairs and renovations.
  • Obtain bids and manage vendor relationships for capital improvements.
  • Update reserve studies and support long-term asset planning.
  • Communicate project updates to HOA boards and operations leadership.

Financial Management

  • Manage operating budgets and capital reserve funds for HOAs and the Engineering Department.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Attend and present at monthly and quarterly Board and company meetings as required.
  • Provide regular updates on maintenance activities, capital projects, and subcontractor work.
  • Utilize systems and technology to improve communication and operational efficiency.

 

Location: Snowmass Mountain Lodging, Managed by East West Hospitality - Snowmass Village, CO

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

Schedule: Flexible schedule, some nights, weekends and holidays required

Pay Rate: $155,000 to $165,000 per year

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing engineering or maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building systems, including HVAC.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with HOA operations and presentation to HOA Boards at regular meetings preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and perform effectively under pressure.
