Vice President of Accounting

The Vice President of Accounting is a senior leadership role and key strategic partner to the CFO, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting function and building a best-in-class financial organization supporting hospitality (HOA operations, vacation rentals, hotels). This individual will serve as a strong leader—someone who operates with independence, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who anticipates issues before they arise, asks thoughtful questions, challenges the status quo constructively, and drives continuous improvement across processes, controls, systems, and people. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong emotional intelligence, the ability to inspire and motivate teams, and a demonstrated track record of strengthening internal controls and leading enterprise-wide system implementations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Executive Committee, developing a strong partnership with the COO, to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvements
  • Lead with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach while maintaining a strategic perspective
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team with a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Lead Accounting team that reflects EWH’s culture of authentic hospitality, connections that matter, and care for place and people.
  • Foster an environment that encourages curiosity, professional growth, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Develop future leaders within the accounting organization through coaching, delegation, and succession planning
  • Drive a culture of strong internal controls, operational discipline, and ethical decision-making

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Lead preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Provide thoughtful analysis and insights that support strategic business decisions and drive long-term financial sustainability
  • Monitor and interpret financial trends and variances and communicate findings to the Executive team
  • Leads the budgeting and planning process including annual operating plan
  • Prepares and presents budgets, regular financial reviews, forecasts and other financial reports to company leadership, executives and ownership in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Achieves budget objectives by regularly analyzing and investigating variances as well as initiating and / or recommending corrective actions
  • Compares revenue, sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
  • Prepares, forecasts, and monitors Cash Flow
  • Oversite of cash management ensuring sufficient yield on funds and proper collection protocols are in place

Internal Controls & Process Excellence

  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance a robust internal control environment to safeguard company assets and mitigate risk
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting and tax standards, laws and regulations
  • Lead annual external and internal audit process for the company
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for all companies and business units
  • Focuses on digital transformations and improvements through reviews & analysis of existing systems and processes.  Recommends and implements improvements to these systems and processes to assure full optimization of same.
  • Evaluate and strengthen accounting processes to ensure scalability, efficiency, and compliance, including identifying opportunities for automation and championing best practices
  • Lead process documentation and standardization efforts to support growth and operational consistency
  • Identify automation opportunities and champion best practices in financial operations

Strategic Partnership

  • Challenge assumptions constructively and present alternative perspectives backed by data
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, HR, IT, and executive leadership to improve business performance
  • Balance operational execution with long-term strategic planning
  • Communicates financial concepts in a transparent and clear manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors

Location: Colorado – Avon strongly preferred; Front Range with ability to be in Avon on-site each week/regular basis considered, along with references for managing remote team

Start Date: 4/1/2026

Employment Type: Full Time, Year Round

Salary: $180-200k annually + 15% bonus potential

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, hospitality or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including oversight of internal controls and financial operations and significant leadership experience
  • Proven experience developing and leading high-performing teams
  • Experience in hospitality or HOA operations, in multi-entity or growth-oriented environments preferred
  • Experience with complex financial modeling and analysis
  • Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, the organization’s software systems
  • Experience in ERP implementation, system conversions, or major financial system upgrades required
