Chief Engineer - Frontgate

We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join our team at our exciting new property - Frontgate - in Avon, Colorado. If you have experience leading a team, coordinating projects, and a background in Engineering in a hospitality setting, we would love to meet you!

Duties Include:
- Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the Property, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment
- Responsible for verifying completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
- Develop, implement, and manage emergency programs for the operation and maintenance of all equipment, physical structures and landscaping in compliance with our standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect the asset, guests and employees, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Position is responsible for the short and long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the engineering division. Recommends the department's budget and capital expenditures and manages expenses within approved budget constraints. Participates in total hotel management as a member of the hotel Executive Committee.
- Supervise the Human Resources in the division to attract, retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication channels, discipline, and terminate, as appropriate.
- Develop, recommend, implement and manage the department's budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first-class property and management's expectations.
- Develop, implement, and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all the equipment in compliance with local, state and national codes and regulations, including OSHA requirements, to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all owners and guests, managers and employees to protect the asset and maintain the property in first class condition.
- Develop, implement, and direct all Emergency Programs; ensure all equipment is maintained, conduct inspections and drills, ensure compliance with all codes and regulations, train all employees and maintain accurate records to ensure a safe environment which protects the asset, guests and employees.
- Develop, implement, and manage energy management programs for the property to minimize expenses
- Inform the General Manager and hotel department heads on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost-effective proposals for maintaining these systems.
- Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed for minimal cost.
- Oversee capital projects, bids and contract negotiations (roof, painting, landscaping, snow removal)
- Attend all Association Board Meetings.
- Assist the General Manager with Association Reserve Analysis.
- Perform final review of all completed work orders daily.
- Administer a preventative maintenance and cost saving program.
- Participate in all required training through East West Resorts.

Employment Type: Full Time Year Round
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $75,000 -$82,000 annually, DOE
- Have strong troubleshooting / problem solving skills.
- Candidate should have experience in some of the following; HVAC, plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, painting, drywall, irrigation, and pools/spas.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with Homeowner Associations also preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from owners and guests.
- Ability to effectively present information to top executive management and boards of directors.
