This position is truly a generalist position, providing opportunity to work in a variety of HR areas, including Recruiting, Onboarding, Employee Recognition, Training, Worker’s Compensation, Safety, and general employment issues. This is a great opportunity to continue to grow in your HR knowledge and collaborate on innovative ideas and projects within a highly regarded, local company.


Duties Include:

  • Recruitment:
    • Greet and assist individuals applying for positions with The Westin Riverfront. This includes explaining available positions, helping individuals apply online or with a paper application, prescreening applicants and working to match them with an appropriate potential position.
    • Assist with recruiting initiatives as needed, including job postings and advertising.
  • Onboarding:
    • Responsible for accurate and efficient processing of all HR paperwork in employee database, including new hire paperwork, pay or status changes and separations. Responsible for maintaining electronic records.
    • Responsible for timely filing of cases and follow up for each new employee in E-Verify and background check system. 
  • Guest Service Culture:
    • Exemplify Westin's Guest Service Culture by providing exceptional service to our associates, teams, guests, and general public.
    • Answer questions from applicants, employees and managers regarding general Human Resources issues, employee paperwork, benefits, payroll, policies, procedures, programs, training and general company and community information.
  • HR Events and Communication:
    • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing HR sponsored events and recognition programs.
    • Responsible for Westin HR communication and supporting Employer Branding: newsletter, social media posts, bulletin boards, discuss opportunities to motivate, increase employee morale, and brainstorm ways to create a better workplace. 
    • Assist in facilitating training offered by the HR department, including Orientation, New Manager training, etc.
  • Employee Housing Management:
    • Manage all aspects of employee housing: answer inquiries, manage housing assignments, communicate the details to new tenants, communicating deductions to payroll, manage departures, inspections, and dealing with general employee housing issues. 
  • HR Compliance:
    • Manage worker’s compensation program and OSHA logs. Assist with FMLA inquiries and requests.
    • Respond to all Unemployment claims in a timely manner, supply additional information as requested to unemployment insurance provider, work with managers to prepare for unemployment hearings, and respond to audits as necessary.
  • Administrative support:
    • Provide administrative support to HR Director and HR Manager, including coordination of meetings, event planning, training administration, training set up and prep, data compilation and report preparation.
    • Create Marriott EIDs and maintain Marriott Global Source system.
  • Communicate and assist our Spanish speaking applicants and associates in all the above.  May also help translate internal written communications, memos, presentations, or conversations as needed.


Location: The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Managed by East West Hospitality - Avon, CO

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Type: Full Time, Year Round

Pay Rate: $28-$29 / hour

Schedule: Typically Mondays - Fridays, 9am-5:30pm. Some weekend/evening hours may be necessary based on business needs.


  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training in the above functions, OR experience in Guest Service and office administration- strongly preferred.
  • General Human Resources experience in a hospitality or similar industry preferred, but not required.
  • Fluency (written and verbal) in English AND Spanish is required. 
  • Ability to read, understand and apply technical procedures, employment laws and company policies and procedures. 
  • Ability to correspond articulately in written and verbal form.  Effectively present information and respond to questions from applicants, associates, managers, guests and the general public.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to learn additional systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
