Position Overview:

The Junior Sous Pastry Chef will work closely with the Pastry Chef to oversee the daily operations of the pastry department within the Viceroys Hotel. This role will ensuring high-quality production of baked goods and desserts, and maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and creativity in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilitie

  • Prepare and produce a wide range of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods for the hotel's restaurants, banquets, and room service.
  • Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and taste across all pastry products.:
  • Assist in supervising and training pastry cooks and other kitchen staff.
  • Provide guidance and support, ensuring all team members adhere to kitchen standards, safety protocols, and time management.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to create and design new pastry offerings, keeping in line with the hotel’s brand and guest preferences.
  • Innovate seasonal and special occasion menus with creativity and attention to detail.
  • Monitor production levels and ensure proper stock levels of ingredients.
  • Conduct regular checks of the presentation and quality of pastries before they leave the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, cleanliness, and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
  • Monitor food storage, handling, and labeling to maintain food safety standards.
  • Assist with the management of the pastry kitchen’s inventory.
  • Help place orders for ingredients, equipment, and other supplies as needed, under the direction of the Executive Pastry Chef.
  • Contribute to the creation of exceptional and unique pastry experiences for guests.
  • Actively seek guest feedback and adapt recipes or offerings to enhance their dining experience.

Location: Viceroy Snowmass - Snowmass Village, CO

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Type: Full Time, Year Round 

Schedule: Flexible schedule, some nights, weekends and holidays required

Pay Rate: $28 to $30 and hour

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in pastry preparation, ideally in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, modern trends, and traditional baking methods.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
  • Passion for creativity and attention to detail in pastry design and presentation.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Culinary degree or relevant training preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25kg (55 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
