The VP of Accounting will work closely with the CFO and the accounting leadership team to partner with leaders across the company to drive business objectives.  It will be the accounting leader and strategic partner for all East West Hospitality accounting matters including operational and HOA accounting, revenue reporting and forecasting.  It will leverage their skills and experience to lead their team and identify growth and optimization opportunities in these areas. 

The VP of Accounting will cultivate and maintain enduring relationships, founded in trust, with senior leaders across the company to achieve short- and long-term business and accounting objectives.  It will lead a team that will develop best practices, share insights and execute transformational finance efforts.  It will view challenges as opportunities and tackle them with optimism.  It will oversee and administer the annual budget planning and forecasting process as well as period updates to relevant stakeholders.

Strategic Planning and Decision Making

  • Analyzes information, forecasts revenue against expenses, and collaborates with team on the creation of annual budgets
  • Ensures production and review of accurate forecasts in a timely manner that enable DOOs and their leadership teams to respond to changes in the moment. 
  • Sets priorities and deadlines and communicates those to stakeholders.
  • Compiles information, analyzes, and monitors actual and projected revenue, wages, and other expenses for efficient and timely budget planning.
  • Identifies, understands, and communicates reasons for budget or forecast variances.
  • In collaboration with CFO and Finance Leaders, develops, executes, and implements new business plans.
  • Leads a team of accounting professionals to create the annual operating budget collaboratively with the division Directors of Operations.
  • Provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for DOO’s and their managers.
  • Implements a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Facilitate the coordination of monthly Divisional Business Unit (DBU) financial review process. 

Support of Key Stakeholders

  • Interacts and communicates with the Executive Committee, DOOs, and accounting leaders, understanding the priorities and strategic focus of each.
  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders (owners, guests, employees, etc.).
  • Advises the CFO and executive committee on existing and evolving operating/accounting issues.
  • Communicates financial concepts in a transparent and clear manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of cash flow and managing receivables and payables.
  • Manages property working capital and cash management.

Location: Corporate Office - Avon, CO

Start Date: ASAP

Employment Status: Full Time, Year Round

Pay Rate: 150k - 190k annually


Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Ideal candidate is a seasoned Accounting professional with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in leading the Accounting functions, preferably in a hospitality environment.  Will consider less Accounting leadership experience if in conjunction with operational leader experience in hospitality.  Combination of experience and education also considered.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred.
  • Advanced Accounting, Finance and Tax knowledge

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, and hospitality business (or the ability to learn)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills; organizational skills; and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Computer Skills: Excellent Excel skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s software systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to each of our markets, as necessary.
